Growing in faith and living as Catholic Christians is a lifelong journey. The religious formation of children begins with and is dependent on parents who are the primary religious educators of their children. The School of Religion exists to assist, support, and encourage parents in this awesome task.
St. Luke School of Religion serves nearly 400 elementary and middle school children who attend public school. Volunteer catechists teach the classes that are held Wednesday afternoon for Grades 1-4, Wednesday evening for Grades 5-8.
It is our hope that through our formal religious education program, the formation received at home and participation in Sunday Liturgy children will:
* Grow in knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Faith
* Celebrate their faith in the sacraments
* Develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
* Become a follower of Christ in their daily living
* Become a full participating member of the Church
Special programs have been designed to prepare children for the reception of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation. Parent participation is a component of these programs.
